P&Z Hearing Re-Scheduled
December 18, 2007
The application has been removed from the Planning & Zoning's
December 20th meeting agenda. At this time, we are not sure when
the issue will come before them but will post info here as soon as we
have it. |

Conservation Commission
Hearing Postponed
November 26, 2007
Due to a change to the developer's application, the Conservation
Commission postponed the public hearing tentatively to December 10th.
There was limited discussion of the subject by the developer's attorney,
but most of it was procedural in nature. Our own Tom Savoca and a
few other residents did express their concerns to the Commission and
asked questions, but while the Commission did not turn away public
comment, they were not necessarily inclined to take substantive
public comment without having a complete application in hand. The
developer's attorney did mention that they will provide expert testimony
regarding the water issues, and it is our contention that in the
interest of fairness and openness any experts provided should be
mutually agreed upon by the developer, town government, and by the
public. |

HERE WE GO AGAIN?!?
November 18, 2007
After the successful defeat of the HEDS amendment, Present Moment is back with an application to build a 24 home
mixed-income community on the Hald property --- that's just Phase I.
They have a request to change the lot from zoned RU-2 (residential 2
acre lots) to HOD (Housing Opportunity District) under Connecticut's
8-30g statute. We have serious
concerns regarding this application and its potential impact on Madison,
as well as the possibility that the location of a dense development at
this site could negatively impact the quality, supply and safety of
our water supply. Please follow the link for
Water Safety to read information about our
concerns. The Town's Conservation
Commission is the first to hear the application on Monday November 26th 7:30pm
at Town Campus. We encourage citizens to attend this hearing
and find out more information regarding this development and its
potential impact on Madison and its water supply. |
